Big, rich, brooding, delicious

(750ml) Adelaide Hills, SA

This variety is found in minute quantities in Spain around the village of Navarette near Logroño in La Rioja. There is only an acre or two in Australia. Its small dark berries have given us a delicious wine dominated by blackcurrant and cherry and is an almost opaque purple-crimson colour. Our 285 vines were planted in 2014 on the highest and warmest part of the vineyard overlooking the Onkaparinga Valley. The fruit matures very late but with high natural acidity. This is the first time that we have had sufficient fruit to fill a barrel, and we think that it will age well for many years.
